With more modern software - like Sibelius - that uses the Internet for installing, licensing, etc., all you technically have to do is de-authorize it since then the new computer-owner won't be able to use that software but it still seems a lot more sensible just to delete it all.ĮDITED to say that the above is pretty much what Daniel said, and he said it much better than I just did I simply wanted to extend the thought to *all* non-freeware software, not just Sibelius. But then of course the new owner won't even be able to tell if your computer is functional. I'm actually not even sure it's technically okay to leave the system software installed (again assuming that you're going to "recycle" your licensed copy of that system software). Let me add that when selling or giving away a second-hand computer, one should delete ALL software from it except freeware, assuming that you're going to continue using that software on your new computer the reason being that you're only licensed a certain number of copies (normally one).
